What I like most about this activity gym is its ability to grow with your child, its versatility!
●Use the mat alone to start them off with the all-important TUMMY TIME! The activity gym includes 5 toys—one a bird that tweets—that you can use to entice your little one to turn her head from one side to the other. They include a pillow for tummy time support, but I’d save it for later to be used to help prop them up sitting to play with the included toys.
●Another option for the mat: Lie baby on his back! Attach the 5 toys so he can kick and swat at the hanging toys to develop the muscles in his arms and legs as well as eye-hand coordination.
●Children learn through their senses and the Treetop Friends Activity Gym features multi-sensory play for baby at every stage of their development. In addition to the hanging toys there’s a mirror and built-in sounds and textures on the mat (crinkling leaves—how fun is that?!) that’ll keep baby exploring and investigating.
●Another aspect of this activity mat that I like a lot is the choice of its design. Embellishing the tree are multi-colored leaves plus some of the hanging toys also serve as birds stitched on the tree. IMHO, too many children’s toys nowadays are garish, plastic, and flashy…all bells and whistles. This one offers active participation rather than passive entertainment.
The Treetop Friends Activity Gym gets a high-5 PLAY ON stamp of approval with only a couple minor issues:
●Assembly! Ostensibly, only one person is needed to assemble the arches and attach them to the mat. Well, let me tell you –it’d go a heck of a lot smoother and easier with 2 sets of hands…it felt like I was wrestling an alligator!
●Wash-ability. Most everything is washable…the exceptions being some of the hanging toys. The mirror is ‘part of’ the activity mat, but thankfully the mirror can be removed before laundering.
