And if you’ve have more than two then YAY–it makes for a better tea party!
Every year at preschool, it didn’t take long before the kidlets realized Teacher Karen loves her tea! They were quite invaluable actually as they’d often help me keep track of where I’d set my tea cup down! Concerning tea–a nursery rhyme I would do with the preschool kidlets every year: Polly Put the Kettle On.
At the end of the year, the kiddos created Memory Books for each other. Teacher Suzie and I would also be included in the list of their classmates for them to comment on –noting something they’d remember them and us. What Emma N recalled one year was representative of many about me: “She teaches me. She drinks tea.” They often gave me gifts of tea and I believe that was the beginning of my tea cabinet…
Are you may a stay-at-home parent?
or
Do you have a home-based business?
If so, then YOU KNOW when you’ve got young children you need, and you want, to take time out now and again to engage with them—especially if you want to get anything else done later!
A tea party is the perfect solution!
Green Toys has, as you might expect, an eco-friendly solution. Their Tea Set not only supports pretend PLAY but also works to make the Earth healthier. All Green Toys are:
● Made from 100% recycled plastic
● No BPA, phthalates or PVC
● Meets FDA food contact standards
● Easy to clean and dishwasher safe
After graduating from the UW (decades and decades and decades—oh alright—and decades ago) I went to work for Bethlehem Steel. That experience intensified my support of US-made products. Happily, Green Toys is manufactured in the US!
GreenToys’ Tea Set includes:
Tea pot & lid,
Sugar bowl & lid
Creamer
(4) tea cups
(4) saucers and
(4) spoons
Pros:
● Durable
● Environmentally responsible
● Dishwasher safe
● Interchangeable lids
● Lightweight
Cons:
● If I want to get picky—perhaps they could have included some napkins…
What do you need with your tea to make it an official tea party?
Biscuits and cakes of course! And bee SMART offers the ideal treats!
Their wooden Cakes & Biscuits Set supports children’s role PLAY and imagination while developing their fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. It gives you the chance to use your tea party to also introduce and/or review concepts such as choice (or trying new things), taste and, most importantly, sharing.
Pros:
●Made from high quality, responsibly-sourced materials
●Non-toxic
●CUTE!
Cons:
● Cost—I think these are pretty expensive for the number of cakes/biscuits you get
● Stated age range says 24+months, but I would be concerned letting toddlers have access to these unless they were being closely supervised. I’d say they were more appropriate for 3 years and up.
When I was a young girl I took tap lessons and, over the years, I have continued as best I could because I LOVE tap!! Check out this video as it would have been representative of something I would have seen following Sunday night dinner at my grandmother’s house. And, just because I do LOVE tap so much and I have a compulsion to think in terms of themes, enjoy this dance from the movie Tea for Two!
Yours in Play!
